Plans have been unveiled for a 58-unit, £10million housing development on a former car park in Bolton.

The town center scheme will be carried out by Birchwood-based Your Housing Group, with local company Forshaw Construction named as the contractor.

The St George’s Row development will provide 58 affordable homes, including a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes available for condominium and rent-to-own.

The 1.45 acre site is located on St Georges Road/Bark Street opposite the old St Helena Mill in the town centre.

The location is within walking distance of Queens Park, local schools, shops and amenities, and has views across the River Croal to the south.

Your Housing Group’s growth director, Richard Jones, said: ‘This development will be a great addition to the town center – bringing a brownfield site into use, building on a sustainable location and adding to the wider regeneration downtown.

“It will provide high-quality, affordable housing and allow many residents to take their first step on the homeownership ladder with condominium options.”

Your Housing Group has acquired the land with planning permission in place.

Planning approval was granted by Bolton Council in December 2021 for former landowners.

This development was partly funded by Your Housing Group’s strategic partnership with Homes England.

Your Housing Group was announced as one of the government housing agency’s strategic partners in January 2019, receiving £87.5m of funding in line with the government’s aspiration to provide new, more affordable homes for across the country.
