Due to our retirement, we have a Building Control and Property Information Manager position within our Building Control team based in the historic and cultural city of York.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Building Control and Property Information teams and act as the primary technical advisor ensuring technical and legal compliance with building laws, building regulations and the sports field safety regulations and providing professional expert advice on building control is important.

Ideal candidates should have:

  • Thorough knowledge of building laws and regulations as well as related legislation relating to building control and related fields
  • Knowledge of customer service and equal opportunity principles in the delivery of a building control function
  • Proven track record of the ability to act as a lead agent ensuring compliance and enforcement of building regulations and ancillary legislation
  • A high level of self-motivation
  • Excellent leadership and time management experience

At this time, due to the impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, some of our employees are working remotely from home, but a return to a combination of remote and physical working from Council offices is planned. in a close future.

As a newcomer, your contract location will be the designated council office for your team. Your working arrangements will vary depending on your department and role, as well as current government guidelines. For many roles, there will be more opportunities in the future for remote and hybrid working.
