MANILA, Philippines — Property developer Jose Acuzar was sworn in as secretary of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) on Friday.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. took the Oath of Acuzar in the study room of Malacañan Palace.
Acuzar is the brother-in-law of Paquito Ochoa Jr., who served as executive secretary during the administration of the late President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
The new head of housing, hailing from the town of Balanga in Bataan, was born on June 19, 1955.
He studied architecture at the Philippine Institute of Technology.
Acuzar started as a draftsman at the Tondo Foreshore redevelopment project in 1975 and became a contractor in the 1980s before founding New San Jose Builders Inc. (NSJBI).
