WINSTED — As the city’s affordable housing plan continues to be developed and discussed, residents are encouraged to attend a community forum May 31 on Zoom and at City Hall.

A remote Zoom lunchtime meeting is scheduled for noon, and an in-person meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at City Hall, 338 Main St., 2nd Floor, in the P. Francis Hicks Room.

Residents are encouraged to learn about the proposed goals and strategies that are being considered for the city’s new affordable housing plan. The committee welcomes comments.

According to members, Section 12 of Connecticut General Statutes Public Law 21-29 requires all municipalities to adopt an affordable housing plan outlining how each intends to increase the number of affordable housing developments in the municipality. The Winchester Housing Plan Steering Committee has been meeting monthly since November. More information is available at townofwinchester.org.

“Come enjoy a pie and learn about the proposed goals and strategies for a new affordable housing plan,” the members said in a statement. “Find out why rents are rising so quickly, how homeownership can be more affordable, how seniors may have downsizing options, and how you could help.”

RSVPs are appreciated, but not required.
